Honeymoon packages
Shimla and Manali is the classic Himalayan honeymoon at six to seven nights, and Kashmir with a houseboat night is the alternative for couples who want the valley rather than the hill station. Both work best outside the mid-May to mid-June peak, when rates roughly double and the towns are at their busiest.

Shimla and Manali
The default for a reason: it is scenic, well served by hotels at every level, and the drives between stops are short enough not to eat the trip. Solang and the Atal Tunnel give the day out; Old Manali and Naldehra give the quiet.
Kashmir instead
A houseboat night on Dal Lake, the Mughal gardens, then Gulmarg and Pahalgam. It is a softer, greener trip than Himachal and the shikara at dawn is the image most couples come back with. Six to seven nights covers it.
What is worth paying for
A hotel with a view you will actually use, and a driver who knows the routes. What is rarely worth paying for is a longer itinerary — an extra destination usually means an extra day in the car rather than an extra day in the mountains.
Questions people ask
Which is better for a honeymoon, Shimla-Manali or Kashmir?
Shimla and Manali if you want hill-station comfort, short drives and a wide choice of hotels. Kashmir if you want the houseboat, the gardens and a greener valley. Both run six to seven nights.
When should we avoid for a honeymoon trip?
Mid-May to mid-June, when rates peak and the towns are crowded, and July to mid-September, when monsoon road closures can cost a day of the trip.

- Shimla travel guideShimla sits at about 2,200 metres in Himachal Pradesh and works as a year-round hill station, with snow between late December and February. Two to three days covers the Ridge, Mall Road, Christ Church, Kufri and Jakhoo temple. Most itineraries pair it with Manali rather than visiting alone.
- Srinagar travel guideSrinagar sits at about 1,585 metres on Dal Lake and is the arrival point for almost every Kashmir itinerary. A houseboat night, a shikara ride and the Mughal gardens fill two days, after which most trips move on to Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg.
- Best time to visit Himachal PradeshMarch to June is the main season in Himachal, with clear weather and open passes. Late December to February brings snow to Shimla, Manali and Dalhousie. July to mid-September is monsoon, when landslides close hill roads without warning — it is the one window worth avoiding for a road-based trip.
- Family tour packages in the HimalayasShimla, Manali and Dharamshala suit families best, because the drives are short, hotels are plentiful and nothing depends on altitude tolerance. Ladakh and Spiti are not recommended for young children or grandparents, since both involve sustained time above 3,500 metres.
