Ladakh from Kolkata

From Kolkata, Ladakh is reached by flying to Leh via Delhi, which is the only practical option — the overland route would add four days each way. Allow two full rest days in Leh on arrival, because flying from sea level to 3,500 metres gives the body no time to adjust.

Why sea level to Leh is the hard version

Kolkata sits at sea level and Leh at about 3,500 m. A traveller from Delhi or Chandigarh arrives slightly better prepared than one from Kolkata; neither is acclimatised. The two rest days matter more here, not less.

Questions people ask

How do you get to Ladakh from Kolkata?

By air via Delhi to Leh. Overland is possible but adds around four days each way, so it is done as a road trip in its own right rather than as transport.
