Season guide
Best time to visit Goa
November to February is Goa’s peak season: dry, warm and busy, with Christmas and New Year the most expensive fortnight of the year. March to May is hot and quieter, and June to September is monsoon, when many beach shacks close entirely.

Why the shacks matter
Much of what people picture as Goa — the beach shacks — is seasonal construction that comes down for the monsoon. Travelling in July means the beaches are dramatic and empty and most of the eating and drinking has moved indoors.
Questions people ask
Is Goa worth visiting in monsoon?
For green landscapes, waterfalls and low prices, yes. For beach life, no — many shacks close, swimming is unsafe on several beaches and water sports stop.

- Best time to visit Himachal PradeshMarch to June is the main season in Himachal, with clear weather and open passes. Late December to February brings snow to Shimla, Manali and Dalhousie. July to mid-September is monsoon, when landslides close hill roads without warning — it is the one window worth avoiding for a road-based trip.
- Family tour packages in the HimalayasShimla, Manali and Dharamshala suit families best, because the drives are short, hotels are plentiful and nothing depends on altitude tolerance. Ladakh and Spiti are not recommended for young children or grandparents, since both involve sustained time above 3,500 metres.
- Himalayan honeymoon packagesShimla and Manali is the classic Himalayan honeymoon at six to seven nights, and Kashmir with a houseboat night is the alternative for couples who want the valley rather than the hill station. Both work best outside the mid-May to mid-June peak, when rates roughly double and the towns are at their busiest.
